On Monday 20th Jan, a couple of us local mountain bikers guided Team ABSA around some of our local tracks in preparation and training for the up and coming ABSA Cape Epic. A fun bunch of guys and girls with a huge team spirit. Again, as with every year, the team is full of local celebrities, see if you can make them out in the photograph!
We started out at 6 am and finished somewhere around 11.30 ish. We traversed all sorts of terrain, including some pretty hectic climbs. This was apparently the team’s third day on the trot of long day training, the first, being the Attakwas (South Africa's toughest single day event) was on Saturday!
We also introduced them to the owners of the Oaks Estate, from where the Greyton stage will be held. The morning went pretty much without any hitches except that both of us locals had some minor technical’s!! The general feedback was that their stay and ride in Greyton was very much enjoyed. Good luck team, and hope to see some of you out here again someday.
